This Ain't No Swamp Pop

Krewe of Black Flood is a Louisiana modern swamp music project; comprising of acoustic guitars and vocals of a strong cajun dialect. The vocals are meant to be taken with some measure of humor, but is also a direct attempt to capture the dialect of Louisiana cajuns – particularly those who spoke english as a second language. A few french words are included here and there and the subject matter consists of cajun folklore and modern issues of southern Louisiana, such as coastal erosion and the oil spill of 2010.

The acoustic guitar work is rhythmic and gritty, but also includes other intricate work – like the guitar solo in Francois. The project originally began in 2005 with Rougarou and Francois. In the following years came Duck Blind, About the Shrimp (2007), Salt Invasion (2008), and Oil Apocalypse (2010).
